Almost everyone in the construction industry knows that it is one thing to undertake ambitious infrastructure projects and quite another to complete them. Undoubtedly, infrastructure is also a measure of a country's progress, which has a lasting impact on the economy, environment, and the daily lives of millions of people.
Bullet Train
With the help of Japanese technology, the bullet train will soon be available for use in India as well. It will travel at an average speed of 350 kmph, making it ten times faster than regular railways. Currently, work is underway to run a bullet train from Ahmedabad to Mumbai, connecting two major commercial centers of India. The project is expected to be ready by 2023.
Chenab Bridge
There are so many walls being built between people, nations, and communities worldwide that any news of new bridges being built is a good omen. Some projects involving bridges are already under construction in the country. Starting from the Deck Arch Bridge, the Chenab Bridge was completed. According to officials, once the construction is complete, the bridge will be 35 meters higher than the iconic Eiffel Tower. Built at a cost of Rs 1,486 crore, 300 civil engineers and over 1,300 workers reportedly worked 24/7 to complete it.
Hyperloop project in India
Hyperloop is a mode of transport that has been envisioned to travel at speeds in excess of 1200 kmph. Unlike regular vehicles that use wheels, the Hyperloop's pods are designed to fly. Richard Branson's Virgin Group hopes to have a functional Hyperloop in India by 2029. Currently, Virgin is working on a Hyperloop that will take a route between Pune and Mumbai.
Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor
The Rs 28,181-crore Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor, a project by the Railways, is to be completed by March 2023. With a length of 1,856 km, it comprises two distinct sections. The first is the electrified double-track section covering 1,409 km between Dankuni in West Bengal and Khuria in Uttar Pradesh.
It also includes an electrified single-track section spanning 447 km between Ludhiana-Khuria-Dadri in Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. The Eastern Freight Corridor will pass through 6 states.
Gaganyaan
The Gaganyaan spacecraft was to be launched in 2021, but the project got delayed due to the disruption caused by COVID-19. Gaganyaan is the first manned spacecraft designed by ISRO. If everything goes according to plan, India will become the fourth country after Russia, America and China to send humans into space.
Mumbai Trans Harbor Link Project
The project, started in April 2018 and currently under progress, is one of the mega projects with an estimated cost of Rs 14,000 crore. This harbor link will benefit the areas of Sewri and Nhava Sheva in Navi Mumbai.
